Forum Posting Rules

Postby DantheMan » 30 Aug 2006, 02:27

While the administrators and moderators of this forum and photo gallery will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message or image. We appreciate your help in adhering to the guidelines listed below to maintain an exciting online environment. These guidelines are subject to change at any time without notification. Any questions can be directed to webmaster@cwmania.

Acting against the rules listed below may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.

As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your knowledge, the webmaster, administrators and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered above, they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one).

1.Children under the age of 13 may NOT register on CWMania in order to remain in accordance with government regulations.

2.Use of objectionable words and offensive posts and/or photos
CWMania’s intended audience includes anyone wishing to participate (from age 13 up). Therefore, we strive to maintain a mature environment suitable for all ages. Our forums are equipped to replace highly objectionable words with ****** if necessary. However, we expect that this feature will not be necessary. Any offensive post that indicates this type of behaviour will be removed and the offender may be banned from making any further posts in our forums. Inappropriate photos such as those showing rude gestures or blatent disregard for the rules will not be tolerated.

3.Unacceptable topics of discussion
The CWMania forums are dedicated to discussion of Canada’s Wonderland and other amusement parks. Off-topic discussions will be deleted (unless of course the discussion is related to amusement parks). This is not because these topics are unimportant and don’t deserve discussion but because there are alternate places for that discussion. For every possible topic of discussion, there are many forums dedicated to that discussion. Examples of unacceptable topics include:<br />- Unrealistic rumours (7000ft coaster being built at X park)
- Topics that have already been discussed at length elsewhere (use the search feature please)
- Constant speculation about what (X park) is getting next year
- Questions like: what are crowds like on X day? (which are often addressed elsewhere on CWMania)
- Topics that entirely refer to \'ratings\' such as: top 10 lists (these discussions lead nowhere)
- Topics (or posts) referring to quantity of posts (remember Quality over Quantity)
- Politics, Race, Ethnicity, Religion, *, * Orientation as these often lead to flaming (see section on flaming below)

4.Flaming
Flaming is strictly prohibited. We define flaming as: the intent to initiate confrontation between two or more persons online. For example, \'My park is better than your park\'. Offending posts that initiate flaming will be removed, and the offender may be banned from making any further posts in our forums and/or photo gallery. Topics concerning other parks are welcome as long as the discussion remains civil and mature.

5.Spamming
Spamming is forbidden in the CWMania forums and galleries. We define spamming as unsolicited (usually commercial) E-mail sent to a large number of addresses, as taken from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Promotion of your personal website is also considered spamming as it is unwanted. If an account is created solely for spam purposes, it will be banned and the IP address and email address used to register it will be blocked.

6.Spelling & Grammar
Please take the time to proof read your posts before submitting them to ensure the content is clear and concise. Proper spelling, punctuation, capitalization and general grammar are both expected and appreciated by all members of the forums/galleries. Chat shorthand is also not acceptable here since you have time to properly compose and edit messages prior to posting them. Examples of improper posts include:
- Praper speeling is recuired becuz this is hrd to reed
- TYPING IN ALL CAPS
- lack of capitalization for an entire sentence
- Overuse of punctuation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Lack of punctuation means run on sentences that go on and on and on and on those sentences never seem to stop and are often meaningless and unnecessary
- There, Their, and They’re mean very different things. (look them up if you are not sure)
- R ne of u peeps going to the prk 2day?

7.Editing your post
After submitting a post in the forums, mistakes can be corrected by using \'edit\' above your post. Making another post with the correction leaves that topic thread disorganized.

8.Noise
Noise is discouraged on CWMania. A noisy person posts, unfortunately thinking that others will be impressed by meaningless content while achieving the opposite effect. Remember quality over quantity.

9.Quoted replies
The \'quote\' link on posts is intended to quote a post in the reply window. Use this only if you wish to respond to a much earlier post in the thread, and be sure to trim parts of the post that do not refer to your response. Place your response after the quote tags, so it doesn\'t blend with the original post.

10.Signatures
Signatures reveal personality and differentiate you from other members. We encourage their use within reason. Rules for creating signatures include:
- Must be three lines or less
- images must not exceed 468x60 pixels
- links to your site are acceptable, provided promotional language is not used
- Images must also meet all other requirements listed for posts (everything on this page)

11.Topic titles
Please use well thought out, short, descriptive names for new topics. Topics composed only of a coaster or park name don\'t describe what you want to discuss. Give people a reason to read them.

12.Emoticons
The CWMania Forums and Photo Galleries have many emoticons available for use. Please do not overuse them. The forums automatically limit emoticons to 5 per post. Posts that consist of only emoticons are not acceptable, and will be removed.

13.One-word responses
One-word responses are unacceptable because it\'s impossible for this type of response to contain any merit or thought. For example, if you agree with something don\'t use \'^agreed\'. Instead indicate why you agree or why you don\'t agree and give some detail.

14.Copyrighted Material
Do not post any copyrighted material unless it is your own. This includes images, videos, and text. One exception is promotional images or videos released by the park or company. Link to an outside web page if you feel that the content is important, rather than posting the actual material.

15.Park Employees
Park employees are welcome. However, it is highly recommended that you do not reveal your name, department, position or any information that may identify you. Under no circumstances should you post inside information about park policies or procedures, photos taken in a restricted area, unreleased park announcements or any other confidential information without park authorization. This is for your own protection, as the park may monitor this or other websites and discipline employees in question. CWMania will co-operate and co-ordinate with Canada's Wonderland in these matters.

16.Park Regulations
Please do not post about any violation of park regulations, such as taking photos or video while on a ride or illegally entering the park. These actions are cause for removal from the park. Park rules and regulations are in place for your safety as well as the safety for other park guests. Since the park has established these rules, this site will entirely abide by them. In addition, do not boast about being removed from the park for a previous offence: this is not something of which you should be proud.

17.Respect
Please respect all members of CWMania including your fellow peers and the staff members of the site. Bashing other people only leads to arguments and retaliation. If you are disciplined by a staff member take up any issue privately via PM.

If you fail to adhere to these above guidelines you may initially be issued a formal warning.

Repeat offences will be dealt with accordingly by (but not limited to): temporary suspensions, requiring approval for posts and permanent bans at the discretion of the site admin. Information regarding Park employees not adhering to rules may be forwarded to the park at any time.

All users, please take the time to review the above site guidelines and note the revisions, particularly in the park employees section. It is important that you adhere to these guidelines at all times.

Also, please review the Site disclaimers which can be found at http://www.cwmania.com/disclaimer.php
