2017 Announcement?

Postby Coasterdude44 » 16 Aug 2016, 18:19

Since It's August already , Parks are beginning to announce their new attractions for next year. So far we haven't heard anything related to an announcement day. When do you think it's going to Happen?

Considering that we don't have any juicy rumors yet or any teasing from CW with only 2 days until "announcement day" for most parks, I doubt we are getting anything. However there is always a chance for a surprise.

Four Cedar Fair parks have said their announcement will be on the 18th (Cedar Point, Dorney Park, Carowinds, and Worlds of Fun), one has said their announcement will be on the 20th (Kings Dominion), two have said it will be "Mid-August" (Kings Island's second announcement and Valleyfair), and four have not said anything (Knott's Berry Farm [Excluding their Soak City expansion], Michigan's Adventure, California's Great America, and Canada's Wonderland).

Since I doubt four Cedar Fair parks will get virtually nothing in one year, I imagine they simply aren't building anything major, so there's no point in hyping it up or teasing. I suppose you could read into things and say Wonderland has a four year cycle of getting nothing (2009, 2013, and now 2017!?) but we didn't see any hype prior to Planet Snoopy's announcement in August 2009, nor for Typhoon and Splash Station in August 2014. Slingshot wasn't even announced until April, if I recall correctly.

In short, many parks are staying quiet about next year's additions, not just Wonderland. If we don't hear anything news-worthy by Saturday (Kings Dominion's announcement day), I would start to doubt something for next year. Until then, keep guessing! :D

I can't see us just getting nothing. All that land clearing by Minebuster must be for some kind of addition.

My guess is a waterpark expansion.

I was scrolling through the comments on CW latest post and Two people asked When there is going to be an annoucement. CW replied saying an announcement is coming soon! I Hope they retheme the water park and get one or two new slides! Something like Carolina Harbour and Cedar point shores!

Winterfest would be a great addition to Wonderland.

Don't expect any new roller coasters for next year.

Wild Water Kingdom/Dorney Park is closing at the end of the summer. This means there will be water slides going somewhere.

I was wondering, remember how they were renaming some attractions and stuff in kidzville? What if they are announcing they're redoing kidzville!? I think there is a chance of that happening.

CANADA'S WONDERLAND TO ADD WET & WILD THRILLS WITH TWO NEW ATTRACTIONS IN 2017

VAUGHAN, ON, Aug. 26, 2016 /CNW/ - Canada's Wonderland announced today it will be showcasing two new unique and adrenaline-pumping attractions in 2017. With the addition of towering water slides in Splash Works and a new thrill ride that will be the first of its kind in North America, guests will experience two exhilarating parks and one memorable 2017 season.

Muskoka Plunge, a 60 ft. (18 m) tall waterslide complex featuring four speed slides, will kick-off the summer fun in Splash Works. Riders will feel the adrenaline rush when they step into an enclosed launch chamber and suddenly plummet into a high-speed free fall through S-curves and 360° loops at speeds of approximately 40 km/h.

For thrill-seekers that prefer to stay dry, Canada's Wonderland will be adding to its arsenal of world-class thrill rides with Soaring Timbers. This unique ride experience will send guests spiraling through the sky on two massive rotating gondolas that swing riders through sweeping arcs while rotating 360 degrees.

Canada's Wonderland has also recently announced a limited time offer on 2017 Season Passes for only $68.99 ($21.00 less than the current Season Pass price). As an additional benefit to purchasing next year's Season Pass now, new Passholders will receive one free visit this year and renewing Passholders will receive one free 2016 Fast Lane Plus pass, valid for one day this season.

For more information visit canadaswonderland.com.

Canada's Wonderland is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN." In addition to Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Fair owns and operates 10 other amusement parks, two water parks, one indoor water park, and five hotels. Cedar Fair also operates the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in California under a management contract.

I looked at the concept art for Soaring Timbers and never seem anything like it. Anyone know what type flat ride it is/manufacturer?

Those are two amazing additions to Canada's Wonderland! I had a strong feeling that we would be seeing an addition of a drop slide complex. But, the Soaring Timbers was a surprise! I am glad to see that they are adding another amazing Mondial ride! A Mondial Inferno appears to be an amazing ride! By the sounds of it, Soaring Timbers will be added to White Water Canyon section of the park. This may lead to the removal of Timberwolf Falls but, I am not too sure as of right now. I can't wait to see where it will be placed! I'm already looking forward to next year! Well done once again Canada's Wonderland! Below is Mondial's video of the Inferno and some conceptual imagery of the new additions for next year. 8)
