Well, I have always loved taking pictures of our castle at Wonderland. It was nice to see it from a new angle.

Looking down at the pool located at the bottom of the falls.

...and out towards the front gates.

a seldom seen side of Vortex

a couple other Guardathoners taking in the sights from atop Wonder Mountain

Vortex and more from a different angle

Insert divers here. No-one from the group seemed all that keen on giving it a try.

My first panorama - oh if I had it to do again.

Should be one or 2 more posts in the coming week to finish up.

Hope you enjoy

Wonderland Theatre needs to do a better job of hiding that ugly warehouse-looking structure behind the castle façade, such as making that look more like a castle (such as adding crenellations, turrets, and masonry).

...let the memories continue.

One last look out from the top of the mountain
Image

...the stairs down from the top of the mountain were much easier to endure. We then made our way towards our next bit of private time with the park.
Image

<Insert Homer Simpson drooling/gurgling sound here> ...empty paths.
Image

Ahh Yes - now that's Breakfast! - no, not the restaurant.
Image

Not sure which of our visitors this was, but he pretty much summed up my experience on Behemoth this day. This is before a run...
Image

...and after a run. Behemoth was running like a champ. My previous ride was a year or two earlier and had a lot of vibration on it. Not this day though; smooth as silk.
Image

After Behemoth a lot of the gang headed off towards Great Canadian. Sadly, this is a lady with moves I can no longer handle. So, I enjoyed the park in my own way and took some more pics. Big surprise there.
Image

Same car from the front
Image

...and her permanent partner.
Image

...more to come - sometime soon hopefully.

Brother Jay, the variation in shading you achieved by crunching the blacks is fantastic! You really got a knack for photography.

Is that what it is? Is that an in camera or an after effect? I don't know much about photography. I was just struck by the look of the light in the photos. Very nice!

Once again I thank you for the kind words. Sorry for the delay on the last of the pics but things have been somewhat crazy lately.

Another all but empty Wonderland path
Image

A look at our Antique Carousel
Image

Another empty path with the rides just coming to life
Image

Word quickly spread that it was time for us to make our way across the park for our next treat. Our last little bit of special ride time for the morning. We got to take the first ride of the day on Leviathan. Only after the last train with us was dispatched did they let people into the area.
Image

and a second look. need a fish-eye lens
Image

This here, something so innocent was sadly my downfall. After packing down a somewhat large breakfast I found myself too tired to go on.
Image

One last look through the lens before I headed out
Image

So, that concludes my pics from Guardathon. Sadly I couldn't stick with it long enough for the afternoon activities which I really wish I could have held on for, but work leaves me just too darn exhausted for a day of that length on my day of recovery.

Hope you have enjoyed glancing them as much as I did taking and editing them. Back to the Disney trip :)

Your pictures are amazing!

At Guardathon, did anyone ask about the seatbelts on Behemoth during the Q&A?

^I asked after. It seems like the park's official answer is that they were receiving complaints about Behemoth not being safe, and so to keep the guests happy they installed seatbelts. Unfortunate that so many people were complaining, but from the park's perspective it makes sense.

I get a different message from the seatbelts... The seatbelt says to me 'We can't design a trustworthy restraint system, so we're going to put this seatbelt in for when it inevitably fails...'

I think it looks bad when Behemoth went 6 years without seatbelts and now to the GP its like all of a sudden Behemoth isn't safe enough without them. Plus the GP isn't that stupid, they realize Behemoth and Leviathan have the same restraints, yet Behemoth needs seatbelts where Leviathan doesn't. However, at least this means it isn't a mandatory thing so maybe they will be removed if they continue to dramatically effect the capacity.
