Here is an update of Carowinds' construction report from Newplusnotes. The transformation of Action Theater to Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare: 3Z Arena is really coming along nicely. Also, the transformation of Boomerang Bay into Carolina Harbor is making great progress and is expected to open by May 21st.

Here is a sneak preview video released by Carowinds today, of their new attraction, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare: 3Z Arena. It looks like it'll be a great experience for many visitors to enjoy!

Here is an update of Carowinds' Carolina Harbor thanks to Screamscape. On Wednesday, there was a hard hat tour of the newly upgraded and expanded water park at Carowinds. It looks like progress is coming along nicely as Carolina Harbor should be ready to open on May 21st.

Yesterday, Carowinds had started adding water to their newly expanded Carolina Harbor water park. There's only 17 days until Carolina Harbor opens for visitors of Carowinds on May 21st.

On July 16th Carowinds hinted towards the announcement for the addition of the vintage and retro rides found in Europe earlier this year. The video features articles that mention the rides that were found from various online sources. We now just have to wait for the official announcement from Carowinds to see where the rides will be placed amongst the park for the 2017 season. If you had forgotten what rides Cedar Fair had found in Europe that will be going to Carowinds are a Mondial Top Scan, a Zierer Wave Swinger, a Mack Rides Musik Express, A Huss Troika, and a Huss Break Dance. Cedar Fair had also acquired another Huss Troika and a Huss Condor that will be headed to Worlds of Fun.

It looks like 2017 will be another yet fun packed and growing year for Carowinds as they opened Fury 325 in 2015 and for the 2016 season they removed Thunder Road to make way for the water park expansion and transformation of Carolina Harbor and the addition of Plants vs. Zombies in Action Theater.

Carowinds has announced a newly transformed section, four new rides, a re-theme of a coaster, and Winterfest for 2017!

The newly transformed section at Carowinds is the County Fair which will contain four new rides that will consist of Electro-Spin (Mondial Top Scan), Rock 'N' Roller (Mack Musik Express), Zephyr (Zierer Wave Swinger), and Do-Si-Do (Huss Troika). As for the coaster re-theme, Carolina Cobra will be transformed into The Flying Cobras to fit into the newly transformed section! Along with a new name, it will also feature a new paint scheme which will consist of a blue track with white supports, along with a some colourful checker decals. Below are some conceptual designs for County Fair.

Also, as mentioned above, Winterfest will be coming to Carowinds in 2017! The park will be transformed into a winter wonderland with holiday decorations and many experiences for all those who attend! With the addition of Winterfest next year, 2017 Gold Pass Holders will receive free admission to Winterfest!

Great additions for next year! Looks like a great new/refurbished section for the park! Having said that, I'm not particularly fond of any of these names... Electro-Spin? Rock 'N' Roller? Do-Si-Do? Not my cup of tea, but I guess whatever works for them! The Flying Cobras seems a bit too awkward to say casually as well, but the theming and colours look much better than the old paint!

Also happy to see WinterFest expanding, though I'm not sure it'll ever reach Wonderland.

The transformation of the Carolina Cobra to the Flying Cobras has begun. A new paint scheme is being applied, which will feature a blue track and white supports.

Here's some updates from Carowinds of their updated County Fair! The Carolina Cobra has been completely transformed into the Flying Cobras as the final details were finished off late last week. Also, the Rock 'n' Roller's (Mack Musik Express) concrete pad is ready to be laid. Photos of the progress can be found below. The nice weather sure has helped construction move along nicely. It definitely looks like the revamped County Fair at Carowinds looks like it'll be an amazing place to be once the park opens for the 2017 season!

Here are some County Fair updates from Carowinds. Below are photos of the Carolina Cobra cars being transformed into the Flying Cobras by receiving a new paint scheme. Also, below is a general shot of construction which has been taking place. The County Fair expansion is sure expanding quite fast due to the recent nice weather.

Here's another update from Carowinds. Below is the Rock 'N' Roller (Mack Musik Express) under construction. The floorboards for the platform definitely have an interesting colour scheme. It'll be neat to see the final product once it's completed.

It's been a while since anyone's updated this thread, but Carowinds has announced what's new for 2018! The much-loved Camp Snoopy will be taking over Planet Snoopy with the addition of six new rides. Although some attractions have to be removed to make room for new campers to play, Carolina Carousel, originally built in 1923, will reopen as The Grand Carousel (its original name) in another section of the park, as detailed here.

Thankfully, our classic ride "The Great Whale of China" is not on the chopping block and will carry on its second-life at Carowinds as Peanuts' Pirates for the foreseeable future.
