Interesting! I noticed nothing about a coaster, so maybe this will be a standard media based dark ride, with no lift hill, no hills, and no "finale." :hmm: Several articles mention 600 feet of track (not necessarily coaster track, though), and eleven scenes, which is less track than Guardian, but more than twice as many scenes. Also, the vehicles are four person submarines, compared to Guardian's eight person... mine carts? They apparently will have the score on the vehicle, and bubbles as part of the 4D. Excited to see how this turns out, but it certainly sounds at this point much more mundane than Guardian. More info will be revealed at IAAPA this week, I'm sure (November 18th: Trio-Tech/Cedar Fair 'confidential' announcement).

I like the story, though! It is great to have the former rides as easter eggs and have the actual park play a role in the story (much like Wonderland's dragon and mountain theme loaned itself to Guardian's story).

^ maybe or maybe not according to this press release: http://www.latimes.com/travel/themepark ... tml#page=1
Initial concept art for the Voyage to the Iron Reef ride building depicts rooftop signage entwined with octopus tentacles. After ascending to the second story, riders wearing 3-D glasses will board four-seat vehicles armed with individual freeze-ray guns used to shoot targets on a series of enormous video screens.
Who knows... they might get a drop track too! I wonder how CF and TrioTech will make this ride better than CW's. I hope they learned a few lessons from CW.
At the speed of life, we are bound to crash with each other.

I thought about that, but it says they board it after ascending, so it's just weird phrasing and could go either way. With only 600 feet of track and eleven scenes, I don't see them doing that. That would also eliminate their first floor arcade, from what I gather. I see it turning out more like TrioTech's Hello Kitty ride, but, again, it could go either way. Something like this, but longer and with bigger screens:

Anyway, one way to improve on Guardian would be to have the load and unload on the same side, like The Fly, and that way there could actually be usable bins. And (since people have had issues with this) buy more 3D glasses, maybe even selling some, so you can have your own personal 3D glasses themed to the ride! (I would totally buy those, by the way.)

The platform for Guardian should have been the same as the platform at Backlot. It makes the most sense...

This really gives a sense of the new ride compared to Guardian. They talk about the next gen of graphics, focussing on the interactive dark ride portion rather than the coaster idea, motion vehicles, and a different surprise ending! While I still love Guardian (and hoping some of the motion effects and next gen graphics come our way), I am really wanting to plan a trip to Knott's Berry Farm to check this out! It sounds way better (to me) than Six Flags/Sally's Justice League dark ride (animatronics seem lame to me, but to others I'm sure they'll be incredible). I'm also interested in seeing how a year-round park will take advantage of a media based dark ride. In addition to Halloween, Christmas themed possibilities intrigue me...

Wayyyy better than WMG. If Cedar Fair keeps going at this pace, we're going to be seeing some serious dark rides in the future.

Only issue is that you can see the projectors in plain site and someone forgot to close a "behind the scenes" door at the end :tease:

Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm will be celebrating 75 years next year. In order for the park to celebrate Ghost Town's 75th Anniversary, GhosterRider will be closing on September 8th for some comprehensive restoration. Along with the restoration of GhostRider, Screamin' Swing will temporarily close on September 8th as well to prepare for the upcoming 75th Anniversary of Ghost Town in 2016. Believe it or not but, it did originally say that Screamin' Swing would temporarily close. They must had edited the article since I had originally posted the news. I too love Screamin' Swings and am sad to see one close. My first one was Screamin' Swing at Dorney Park this past June. It was awesome and only a low price of $2 to ride! 8)

Here are some photo updates of GhostRider thanks to Great Coasters International. It looks they've done an amazing job on refurbishing the track that was once reported to be rough and greatly uncomfortable. I'm glad to see that they are refurbishing a wooden coaster oppose to converting it to a hybrid! Fore more information about the refurbishment of GhostRider, click here. 8)
