My understanding is that Wonderland still has the motion seats sitting somewhere in storage and they could be reinstalled in the left theatre if needed. The right theatre obviously has been flattened for the installation of Spirit Manor for Halloween Haunt.

Great America is on Jeff and I's itinerary for 2016 so I look forward to trying this out!

It appears that California's Great America will be holding a Winterfest event this year. This holiday event will feature skating in front of the Carousel Colombia, holiday shows, light displays, 18 rides, holiday foods, and even Santa's Workshop and Mrs. Claus' kitchen. Also, the park reports that they'll have "...one of the Bay Area's tallest Christmas trees..." which will feature many lights and will have giant toy soldiers standing nearby.

Winterfest will run on weekends starting November 25th and then daily beginning December 19th to the 23rd and then from the 26th to the 30th. Winterfest will be free for Gold and Platinum pass holders. For more information, please check out the park's press release. 8)

Here's an update of Mass Effect: New Earth 4-D simulation. The large 3-D LED screen is quickly going up in the previous Action Theater. 8)

Despite the fact that Mass Effect: New Earth is open for the season yet, it still looked like visitors to the park were greatly enjoying themselves during today's 40th year opening day! Below is a photo of today's opening day as seen from the park's webcam! I was actually watching the webcam before 1:00pm (before 10:00am in California) and I watched the visitors stream into the park once the park opened! It was quite neat watching them even though I haven't been to the park before! I hope to get there eventually! 8)

I can't wait to give this new attraction a try when Jeff and I visit in May. Hopefully this and Plants vs Zombies do well so we can see something similar added to Wonderland in 2017.

California's Great American has announced Patriot, a B&M Floor-less coaster conversion of Vortex, the park's stand-up coaster that opened in 1991. Guests can take their last stand on September 5th. According to the park, the name Patriot was inspired by the fact that the coaster is located nearby the All American Corners section of the park. The Patriot will sport a blue track and with white supports. Below are some conceptual images of Patriot. For more details and information about this transformation, check out California's Great America's website. 8)

Makes sense, and not unexpected as it was rumoured since Mantis turned into Rougarou. Sad to see another stand-up go, but happy to see the park putting some TLC into this classic coaster!

As there are only a few days left to California's Great America's Winterfest. Although the final results haven't been released yet, it appears that Winterfest at California's Great America was a very successful event. The park definitely looks great all decked out with lights and decorations, the performance of festive shows, and the offering of holiday inspired treats to bring holiday cheer. Below are some photos of Winterfest which can be found on California's Great America Twitter page. 8)

California's Great America is currently building RailBlazer, a rocky Mountain Construction prototype Raptor track coaster. Identical to Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster opening at Six Flags Fiesta Texas this year, RailBlazer will feature single-file seating which puts each rider in a straddle position around the track, creating a smooth, low-centre-of-gravity-experience that's sure to amplify some intense forces on riders as they experience a 90 degree drop, tight turns, and three inversions. The concept art shows some rustic theming including rock work and an above-ground tunnel.

I'm looking forward to trying this one day, but not looking forward to the line. With only eight seats per train/dispatch, capacity cannot be one of this coaster's strong suits.
