Cedar Point owner implements life jacket rule at all parks

Postby DantheMan » 24 Jul 2007, 16:10

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- The parent company of Cedar Point and Kings Island says it will require children under 48 inches tall to wear life jackets in all company-owned pools.
The move by Sandusky-based Cedar Fair follows last week's drowning of a four-year-old boy at the Great America park in California.

The rule already was in place at the Ohio parks, which also include Geauga Lake and Wildwater Kingdom. A state law here requires all children under 48 inches tall to wear a life vest or pass a swimming test.

The mother of Carlos Flores says she lost sight of the boy when he went into a wave pool at Great America last Thursday. His sister found him unconscious.

That's such a sad thing to happen in an amusement park. There should have been lifeguards watching the swimmers in the wave pool! It doesn't make sense his sister founding him unconscious...there should have lifeguards and bystanders seeing this happen! Futhermore, the mother should have been looking after her kids! It's known even in rec swimming pools that kids have to be supervised.

Did the kid manage to stay alive? I'm hoping someone there in the wave pool had First Aid and CPR training.
At the speed of life, we are bound to crash with each other.

Really, I think that the boy shouldn't have been in there at all as he was only four years old.
